Are you going to that college thing?

September 16th, 2010

Since we have announced that Summit College on Sunday AM’s will be cranking up this Sunday, Sept 19th, I have heard this question between students a lot.

First, because nobody knows what to call what we do on Sunday mornings. Secondly, because if you have never been, you are a little afraid to come alone.

Let me help with both of those unknowns. First, we don’t have a name for it because we hate naming things. When you get together with a group of friends, do you name it? “Dude, I’m not coming to hang out with you until you name it something cool like “The Gathering” or “F-3″ (Food, Friends, Fun).” In a sense, we are gathering on Sunday morning not to have a program but to learn how to be the church together.

Second, don’t be scared. Sure, you may not know somebody, but come, get in a small group, sign up to serve with somebody in the community, sign up to serve the church and you will experience being the church along with other people. Then, when you walk in on Sunday morning you will know someone. You might even get to know someone who doesn’t go to your school or go to a school at all, for that matter.

Bottom line is, we want you here. We want you to be the church. We want you to know the church. See you Sunday at 9 am, Suite 111.
