Summer Reading

There is no better time than the summer to read.  Many of you have asked for some suggestions of what to read while you are out of school.  Here are some books I am reading this summer, some of my all time faves, as well as what our Institute students will be reading.   JD also has some recommended reading on his blog.

One piece of advice:  Always read with a pen.  The stuff you read is only beneficial if you remember it.  Use the inside front cover and couple of pages to write page numbers and a short note about what was worth looking at again.

Here ya go:

What I am reading:

Radical- David Platt,

Dig Deeper- Beynon & Sach,

Lost and Found- Stetzer,

Don’t Stop Believing- Wittmer

Knowledge of the Holy- Tozer

Here are some of my favorites:

Total Truth- Pearcey

Desiring God- Piper

According to Plan- Goldsworthy

Mere Christianity- CS Lewis

Adopted for Life- Moore

Confessions of a Reformission Rev- Driscoll

Prodigal God- Keller

Questioning Evangelism- Newman

A Praying Life- Miller

Living the Cross Centered Life- Mahaney

What the Institute is reading:

Filling up the Afflictions of Christ- Piper

God at Work- Veith

Dig Deeper- (see above)

Reason for God. Counterfeit Gods- Keller

Breaking the Islam Code- Greear

Old stuff, but good:

On the Incarnation- Athanasius

The Institutes- Calvin

Religious Affections- Edwards

Sermons by Charles Spurgeon

Cross of Christ- John Stott (not that old)

Ok, that should be enough to get you started.  Oh yeah, the Bible is pretty good too.
